The wreck of the Nornen
The wreck of the Nornen
I went for the early start today - and just as well because it has rained all afternoon. So up at 5 -one mug of coffee hastily gulped, my wellies on my feet, a tripod in my hand, a kit bag on my back ... and with a pair of weary eyes I trudged out to photograph the Nornen.

It's a Norwegian boat - at least it was in the 1800s before being run aground on Berrow beach. There isn't much left now - just the echo of what must have been a magnificent sailing ship. The wreck is a well known landmark for walkers on the beach - but you need a low tide and a little caution if you're going to visit it. The muds and quick sands are notorious along here. You can see I did not take any views from beyond the wreck looking landward - there were two large patches of very soft sand keeping me away.

This was a special trip on commission - visit the "landscapes commissions" section to see the work in progress. A couple of other pictures have made it into the Rural Landscapes gallery.
