Ted is surprisingly spritely for a Tortoise of 90 years. She had her name for many years before the arrival of an egg revealled that she was in fact a lady. To avoid confusion "Ted" she remains.

I can confirm that tortoises are far from slow - they're not suitable as a still life subject - on account of their reluctance to stay still!

I thoroughly enjoyed photographing Ted in her back garden. I had to get down with the ants (not so enjoyable) for the tortoise eyed view of the lawn and flower beds, and then it was a case of the commando crawl to keep up with her.
